How we got started...
In January 2020 at just 15 years old, I decided to open L.A Dance ... a dream of mine since I was just a little girl. After little persuasion from dancers I taught on a 1-2-1 basis and their parents, alongside friends and family I finally opened my dream dance school with just two classes with a few dancers in each. Not long after opening covid hit and I proceeded to teach safely through zoom meetings and social distancing in outdoor spaces. I am now proud to say I have 15 dance classes with over 220 dancers! My first job was to find a venue, this was not easy! It had to be perfect ... A large spacious and open dance studio with all the facilities I needed to make it a warm and welcoming atmosphere for my hopefully soon to be dancers. With large mirrors toilet facilities car parking with easy access, heating, air conditioning & a team of first aid trained staff on site at all times I decided Chipping Sodbury Sports centre was the perfect option! This is where it all began...
About Me...
My name is Lauren Alvis!
I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me and my dance history so here goes... First and foremost I have a huge passion for dance especially street/urban dance which all started when I was a little girl literally as far back as I can remember! I have attended local street dance, contemporary and ballet classes over the years. This has had a strong influence for my desire to have a future career as a dance teacher with my own dance school. This brings me to where I am today! At the age of eleven I auditioned for Swindon youth dance academy. This started my weekly three year training programme as a street\urban dancer.I have been taught by lots of different choreographers including some of the best dance professionals.I have regularly competed in dance competitions throughout the southwest as a solo, duo, and crew performer, in which I have firmly placed within the top three on numerous of occasions. I attended dance college which is where I received my diploma in dance. In October 2026 I was awarded Dance teacher of the year in London at the UK dance awards which I am very proud of!
